A: Good Morning! Laptop on a Saturday Morning?
B: Yes. Someone needs help with a presentation.
A: It seems that you are a team leader.
B: Ummmmm.. she is not a team member; I am just helping.
A: Helping?
B: She came to my office yesterday. We spent an hour talking about her.
A: Oh! Are you a therapist?
B: No! She wanted to speak, and I finally had time between the meetings.
A: Then you must be a manager.
B: I am, but only when I am not writing.
A: Are you a writer, then?
B: Partially, when I am not reading and preparing notes.
A: Are you a researcher?
B: Partially, I am supposed to be one when I am not into speeches.
A: Are you a public speaker?
B: I am supposed to be almost full-time.
A: Oh! Are you God?
B: I am a teacher!
A teacher who spends hours for a compelling 50 minutes, on some days, with the stars and on some, with the rising sun;
Who evaluates continuously, day in and day out, on some days with pride and on some, in self-doubt;
Who has an excellent mind and an empathetic heart, on some days a high IQ, and on some, a high EQ;
Who digs out surprises, on some days to simplify complexity and on some, to question simplicity;
Who tries hard to make students think, on some days being harsh and on some, being gentle;
Who wishes they knew that she tries, on some days it works, and on some, it does not;
Who may be experienced and wise but still feels fluttering butterflies; on some days, it is too hard, and on some, not so much!
It is a brave role, more so, because nobody says so!
A Very Joyous Teachers' Day!
